Mixed Up Seasons?

Weather Stuff:
It appears that the seasons are mixed up. We seem to get our fine and settled weather during winter and the showery and blowy weather during summer. This year winter started at the end of March and finished mid-May. The high pressure belt that should move over Tassie during summer seems happier to settle over us during winter! Apart from last Wednesday’s rain event, it has been rather settled and sunny for weeks. Many of these settled, clear days have produced some very cold nights and some excellent frosts. The following information is from the BOM: “At around 6 am on the 30th, (May), the temperature at Liawenee dropped to -10.5 °C, the lowest value ever recorded during May in Tasmania. The previous May record was -9.7 °C also at Liawenee in 2001. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Tasmania is -13 °C at Shannon, Tarraleah and Butlers Gorge in June 1983. Liawenee was not the only cold spot on the 30th, with some other sites also having their coldest-ever May temperature”. It appears at this stage that the pattern will continue for a while yet.
Fishing Stuff:
Well, the news is, a large brown trout was caught out of Lake Barrington recently. This alleged brown weighed in at 30 odd pounds. I haven’t seen the newspaper article yet, but with all those Atlantic salmon released into the Lake, I would really like to see it for myself just confirm if it is really a brown.
